Ayurveda,
in Sanskrit, means "The Science of Life"
Ayur = Life Veda = Truth,
Science, Knowledge
|
All Indian sciences are connected to philosophies, which
form a logical system, reflecting a deep and meditative
experience.
Ayurveda offers many ways to prevent diseases and to acquire
healthy longevity, by respecting the actions of nature and
the Universe through their evolution and creation.
This knowledge appeared in India more than 5.000 years ago
and was taught for thousands of years by Rishis (wise men),
in an oral tradition from Masters to their disciples.

They lived during the Ancient Vedic period. Later on these
sacred texts were written in Sanskrit and Ayurveda was
mentioned in the Scriptures, The Vedas, spread and during a
long time some copies were distributed in Temples. After
that, some libraries received them too. Everything was
described in details and some archeological researches
discovered evidences that some surgeries happened
successfully between 3.000 and 5.000 years ago. It also has
application on atomic energy, gynecology, pediatrics,
anatomy, herbs, psychiatry, diet and Ayurveda nutrition.

This science treats the root of the imbalance on an
individual approach through many cleansing methods. It uses
medicinal herbs, oil massages, heating therapies and
innumerable other procedures.
Ayurveda is a medicine which enables one to understand how
to get a new and healthy life style by making changes
through suggestions about a better diet to balance each
Dosha (Energy or Constitution), Yoga, harmonization of
Chakras (subtle centers of energy) and Meditation for
preventing diseases and restoring physical, mental and
emotional harmony. |

"It must be emphasized that Ayurveda is not a substitute for
Western allophaty medicine. There are many instances when
the disease process and acute conditions can best be treated
with certain drugs or surgery. Ayurveda can be used in
conjunction with Western medicine, to make the patient
stronger and less afflicted with a disease" (Dr. Vasant
Lad)
