Herbs

The medicinal plants are used in Ayurveda or Herbal Medicine are almost the same. The only difference that distinguishes them is the holistic and unique balancing approach toward these plants. Also are used many kinds of spices as medicine.

Ayurveda has a different approach regarding herbs, as it is very important to know their energetic qualities, and not just their chemical constituents. Furthermore, the properties of herbs, from an Ayurvedic point of view, are classified according to their taste (rasa), energetic action (virya), post-digestive effect (vipaka), and to their affinity to the different systems and doshas, as well as to other special potencies (prabhava) they may possess.
