Mantras

Mantra, from Sanskrit, means, "Sacred Language of Old India".
man - manas (mind) = thinking tra - trana = Control

Mantras are sonorous codes learnt by old Hindus through intuition.
When we pronounce them we can harmonize with Universe vibrations. Their origin is not well defined. Hindus believe mantras appeared about ten thousands years ago, by the revelation of RIG VEDA; one of the most important Sacred Books of India and one of the four Sacred Books (VEDAS), which are the base of all Hindu philosophies and religions. There is no word in our modern language corresponding to the word MANTRA.
The translation for "Sounds or Sacred Syllables” is just a way to adapt it to Western culture.
Some effects of singing Mantras are: to raise conscience level, to develop spirituality, to awake psychic power, to invoke protection, to tranquilize mind and to increase concentration.

. (OM)

In Hindu thought, this powerful BIJ Mantra is the origin of all things and all beings. Vedas describe it as: "the inner basic natural force, inherent to all phenomenon of nature. It is the sound of Universe expanding and it is also the beating sound of each atom. It is the sacred syllable, which represents the Universe in its totality. It has no literal translation and its meaning is The Absolute (Brahman)".

OM also is the way to put an individual in tuning with Cosmos. If it is pronounced in a short and repeated way, it can awake the flow of psychic thoughts. (OM is also a PRANAVA - word full of Prana, which means Vital Energy).

OM (AUM) is divided in 3 elements, representing triads or the Supreme Trinity

Brahma, the creator of Universe
Vishnu, the preserver of Universe
Shiva, the destroyer (destruction, in this case, always means the process of renovation).

A, U, M. Since the sound O is the fusion of the sounds A and
